Skyline Soccer Policies

  • Sideline Behavior Policy

Skyline’s has a zero tolerance policy in respect to sideline and coaching behavior. Its motto is WHEN IN DOUBT LET THEM PLAY! Excessive coaching from the sidelines by parents is to be strongly discouraged and only positive reinforcement should be provided to our players by coaches and sideline spectators. It is Skyline’s policy that continued violations of this rule will result in the removal of the individuals from the organization.

Parents/Guardians are expected to be positive role models while on the sidelines during games and practices. There will be ZERO TOLERANCE regarding any interactions from the parents to the referees, coaches, players, or visiting parents. Disciplinary actions will be taken if there are any issues.

Skyline has ZERO TOLERANCE for discrimination.  There will not be discrimination on the basis of race, color, gender, gender expression, age, national origin, disability or military status.

Artificial noisemakers are permissible, subject to the discretion of the referee or on-site Skyline staff. If the referee or on-site Skyline staff determines in his or her opinion that an artificial noisemaker is interfering with the administration of the game, the referee shall remove the item(s) before play can continue.

Whistles, air horns, vuvuzelas, cowbells, and electronic amplifiers are prohibited.

Camp / SKILLS cancellations initiated by parents 7 days prior to the start of camp will be refunded in full.  Cancellations within the 7 day period are subject to a 25% cancellation fee.  Cancellations within 48 hours before the start of camp are not eligible for a refund.

There are administration fees when canceling registration or when moving from one program to another program.

All club donations are tax deductible and non-refundable.

  • Right to Refuse Policy

Skyline Soccer Association reserves the right to refuse any participants for any reason.

  • Failure to Place

Registration of your child, at any time of the registration process, does not guarantee a place in the Program. We do our best to give as many players possible, the ability to play, there may be instances where your child will be turned away. Such instances include, but are not limited to, the inability to run the program due to lack of players,  late registrations, unsuccessful payments, and missing registration and payment deadlines.

Bullying is harassment, intimidation by means of any gesture, any written, verbal or physical act, or any electronic communication, whether it be a single incident or a series of incidents that results in pain and distress to the victim.

  • Travel Policy

    Approval:

Tournaments must be approved by the age group Director of Coaching prior to tournament registration.

After receiving approval, the team Manager and Coach should work together to ensure the travel plans are well communicated and best deals are found.

    Travel Tournament Team Expense:

All players are expected and agree to participate in team tournaments. Players not attending are still responsible for their proportionate share of tournament expenses such as the tournament entry fee.

All team expenses are divided equally between all players on the tournament roster. Expenses include, but are not limited to; tournament entry fee (in season team players pay this, not guest players), coach travel including lodging, transportation and per diem for meals ($65 per day).

Guest players must be informed of financial responsibility when invited to participate. Guest players are responsible to pay their travel and expenses, as well as a portion of travel and expenses of the team coach and when needed.  These fees are divided amongst the tournament roster of players.

If the team agrees on having chaperones for the tournament, the chaperones travel expenses (lodging and transportation) are also shared equally by each player including guest players regardless if their family is attending.

    In State Tournament Team Expense:

All (rostered) players will pay an equal share of tournament entry fee and associated tournament expenses, including players not attending.  Guest players will not pay toward the tournament registration fee.

For tournaments in excess over 40 miles from our Home field (Kennedy), team players will equally pay for mileage reimbursement for the coach.  Mileage is paid when travel is over 40 miles each way and reimbursed at the official IRS rate.

    Travel & Flight Arrangements

When possible, teams must travel together.  When flight arrangements are made, they will be made as a team.  The players and coach are expected to travel together unless there are extenuating circumstances that don’t allow an individual to travel with their team.  Coach flight will be the same rate as team players flight and cost is split among team.

Teams should attempt to travel as early as possible to get settled in hotel and have a training session and team meeting to cover expectations.

    Hotel Arrangements

All players and coach will stay at the same hotel. Standard room rate is acceptable. Coaches will stay in the same room level/expense as the team and this is the rate that will be covered by the team. Coaches will have a $65 a day food per diem.

    Gas Arrangement

Mileage reimbursement is for travel over 40 miles each way and is based from our Home field location (Kennedy).  Mileage is paid after the 40 miles limit is exceeded and is reimbursed at the official IRS rate (.65, as of 2023).

  • Team Manager Duties

Team managers are an integral part in the overall success of how teams function.  Team managers are a volunteer position to assist coaches with the following:

Establishing a clear system of communication with players and parents.  This communication includes but isn’t limited to; practice time and location, practice changes, game schedule and game changes, additional training information, tournaments and an additional point of contact for families to share their attendance, ect.

Works with Club to make sure team is staying in compliance with league, state and tournament regulations.

Ensures that all information and materials from the Club and coach are distributed to team in a timely manner.

The responsibility of team manager is one of facilitator.  The team manager is not a coach and should direct all parent and player concerns to team coach.  Issue regarding individual players, policies or clubs directions should be directed to appropriate Skyline staff or coach.

Team manager may also be responsible to report scores for home games.

Team manager may also be responsible to sign up and collect team fees for tournaments.

Please note, the above list is not a complete list of Team Manager duties.  We encourage Team Manager and Coaches have a meeting prior to the start of season to discuss roles and responsibilities.  Every coach is different and some prefer to do more or less than others.

Skyline will support team managers by answering questions and sending resources/information to assist as we can.  We greatly appreciate Team Managers and the time they put in to support their teams.

  • G&M Friend Request Policy

GRASSHOPPER AND MUNCHKINS FRIEND REQUEST POLICY

G&M is happy to accept friend requests from each player when they are registering for a season. Although we cannot guarantee your request, we always do our best to honor them and have a very high success rate at it. There are many factors why we cannot always honor a request, the most common ones are listed below. Due to this we suggest you register your player early and get your friend requests in early.

Reasons we cannot honor a request.

1 ) The player you are requesting is already placed on a full team.

The number of players that are on each team according to age group, Grasshopper or Munchkin, are restricted.  Having too many players on one field can result in practice quality suffering and inability to run certain drills as well as coach to player ratios being insufficient. At this age, too many players on a field can cause scrimmages to run poorly or can make it impossible to play certain games, like Sharks and Minnows, due to lack of space and coaching resources. If you register closer to the deadline and the player you are requesting has already been placed on a team that is full, your friend request might not be able to be honored and your player will likely have to be placed on a different team.

2 ) There are too many friend request for the same player or players.

Often times we have a whole group of friends that want to play together. Groups of the same four-six players can usually be accommodated. When there are requests that result in over 10 kids being on one team, we will split that group into two separate teams. For instance if we have a group of 14 players all requesting each other through various friend requests, we will create two, 7 player teams and try to place those two teams fields next to each other at the park. When this happens, your player might be on a different team than one or more of their friends who might have been placed on the field next to them. For this reason, we suggest when adding a friend request, you select only a few friends and list the ones you would most like to play with. By doing so, we can try our best to add the first or second player you listed to the same team if we have to split a group. If you have 8 or more players who wish to play together, please contact program directors immediately.

What you can do to better your chances of a request being honored?

1 ) Register early! We often try to start forming teams several weeks before the season starts. If the friend you are requesting has already registered with friend requests of their own and is on a full team with some of their own requests, your player will likely not be able to join that friend and will be added to a team that still has room on it.

    2) Be sure to include your friend requests first and last name. We use our best detective skills to match players to their friend requests but if there is no last name listed for a “Ben” or “Emily” and there is several players with that first name registered to play at your park, we may have to guess which might result in your playing not being on the team with the friend they requested.

    3) Check that the friend or friends that you are requesting are already registered for the season or will be registering soon. A lot of times we have requests for a player that isn’t registered for the season. This could be due to either that player not playing that season or perhaps that player is moving up to an older age group. When this happens we are unable to grant that friend request. We also run into issues honoring friend requests when your players friend request has not yet registered. If we roster your player and your friend requests waits too long to register, there is chance your team will be full and we will be unable to honor the request at that point.

    4) Make sure the friend you are requesting is in the same age group. Occasionally we will have players requesting someone who is no longer in their age group. This could be someone who was a Grasshopper one season but aged out into the Munchkin group the following season. We also have cases where a player might be a Munchkin in the Spring or Summer but is in the 6U program in the fall. Check with your friend requests to see if they will be in the same group as your player.

    Group Registrations

If you know that you will have a large group (8 or more players) requesting to be on the same team, please contact johanna@skylinesoccer.org. We can work directly with team parents or coaches to register your team or teams as a group registration.

  • Concussion Policy

At Skyline Soccer, we want to ensure our players are provided the safest environment possible. As such, Skyline is incorporating a Concussion Policy to educate Skyline members about concussions, help prevent concussions from occurring, and identify when a concussion may have taken place.

    Concussion Policy

Parent Concussion Policy: Skyline Soccer recognizes the potential danger and long-term health consequences of this often difficult to diagnose form of traumatic brain injury. The policy is intended to provide easy-to-understand guidelines related to players who have been diagnosed with or are suspected of having a concussion. The policy is for coaches, parents and players, but is to be shared with any other adults or participants in Skyline Soccer. At Skyline Soccer, we want to ensure our players are provided the safest environment possible. As such, Skyline is incorporating a Concussion Policy to educate Skyline members about concussions, help prevent concussions from occurring, and identify when a concussion may have taken place.

Per Colorado Senate Law 11-040 passed on March 14, 2011 and put into effect January 1, 2012, youth coaches need to be educated about concussions. It is MANDATORY for all recreational, intermediate, and competitive coaches to have completed a concussion training module and

have a certificate of completion on file to be updated annually.

Parents: When a parent registers their player, they agree to the following: If my child is diagnosed with a concussion during a Skyline Soccer activity or during any other activity, including those outside Skyline Soccer, or if my player has a prior head injury, I will inform my child’s coach of such diagnosis prior to the start of the season or before my child return to play.  If a Skyline staff, coach or referee deems a player as having a potential concussion, they are within their right to remove the player from the game. Parents may not override the decision until they have their player evaluated by a physician and released to play.

Players: All players should review signs and symptoms of concussions on the Skyline website.

If a player does have a head injury, that player must notify parents and coaches immediately.

Parents and Players: Learn about concussions! -The athlete and family should be familiar with the signs and symptoms of a concussion. Identify the signs and symptoms of a concussion – As a member of the sports community; we must recognize the signs of a concussion and check to see if the player is experiencing symptoms of a concussion. When in doubt, take the player out. – It is best practice to remove the player from competition if there are signs and/or symptoms a concussion has occurred. Do not let the player return – The player should not return to competition until he or she is evaluated by a medical physician and cleared to play. Monitor recovery – Players who have experienced a concussion should be allowed to return to participate on a gradual basis. Players should continue to be monitored with the goal that the player will eventually return to full participation at an individual pace. Not all concussions are the same.

    • Please refer to the Skyline website’s policy on concussion management. You can find this information under the policies page at www.skylinesoccer.org. Skyline reserves the right to create, modify, or rescind any rules, policies or procedures.

  • Lightning Policy

Parents and coaches need to be aware of lightning in the area. If lightning is seen, games and practices should be cancelled and/or postponed. If games are past halftime when it is call for lighning, it is considered a full/completed game. If games are called for lightning before halftime, the game may be made up in its entirety. The head referee does not need concurrence from both coaches to postpone or delay the match.

Team coaches are required to have a lightening monitoring app on their smartphone (WeatherBug is recommended).  They are to frequently check the weather app if it looks questionable.

If lightening strikes are detected and within a 10 mile radius of the location, all players, coaches and spectators must leave the field and seek shelter (often in cars with parents).

Once the weather app shows that there’s no lightening with 10 miles of the field location, players and coaches MUST wait 30 minutes to return to the field.  Should lightening strike within 10 miles again, the 30 minute time starts over).

    What to do?

All players, coaches and spectators to get into a car immediately.

Training is considered finish if there’s less than 30 minutes remaining in the training session.

If threatening weather continues to be present, Team coaches need to continue to monitor weather, stay at the field and ensure all players have been pick up.

  • KIDSafe Policy

    Colorado Youth Soccer KIDSAFE Program

By Randy Greenwood CYS Executive Board

What is the KIDSAFE Program? US Youth Soccer has adopted the KIDSAFE Program to promote the health, safety and protection of players in the game of soccer. Colorado Youth Soccer (CYS) and affiliated Clubs have adopted this policy as a matter of governance within the United States Soccer Federation. Even though adoption of the policy is a matter of governance, the practices set forth within the KIDSAFE Program just make good sense.

KIDSAFE promotes the position that reasonable efforts will be taken by Members of USSF, USYSA, CYS and affiliated Clubs to exclude from program responsibilities any person with a legally documented history of child molestation or other record that would bring an unnecessary risk to the health and safety of the program participants.

CYS has adopted a program which requires all coaches, administrators and employees to agree to be subject to a legally sensitive background check before or during the program’s operations. Persons wishing to apply for a position of coach or program administrator within US Youth Soccer, CYS or affiliated Clubs must complete an Employment/Volunteer Disclosure Statement. The information contained within this form is utilized to complete a formal background check of the applicant/volunteer’s history. When background checks yield problems areas additional information is collected and a decision made on retention of the individual. Any person applying for employment/volunteer position within CYS or affiliated Clubs that is found with a legally documented history of child molestation is immediately released. The person’s name and documented history is entered into a State, Region and National data base to prevent the person from applying at another Club.

Although background checks are effective to identify repeated offenders, they are not “fail safe.” Background checks identify those that have been charged and convicted. To address this, the KIDSAFE Program instills education to create a culture of safety from the bottom up. We all have roles in promoting the concepts of KIDSAFE. Education of the risk is based on the following personality traits:

    • The fixated, seductive pedophile – may be fixated on age, type. Creates relationships with child and parents. Manipulative.

    • Molester – the “nightmare.” May watch and wait. May look for unsupervised children. Not connected with the team. Parents must challenge strangers looking at their children

    • Sexual Exploiter – preys on older players. May make sexual behavior part of team culture.

KIDSAFE Basics are segmented into three categories; Coaches, parents and players.

Coaches Education – understanding the basic KIDSAFE role of the coach.

    • Coaches should never be alone with a player. Always have another adult or player with you.

    • Don’t allow yourself to become a “baby sitter.” Parents have the responsibility to be timely with their player. • Proper conduct with players is essential. Setting a good example provides both soccer and life learning experiences for both parents and players.

    • Establish a “buddy system” for players in unfamiliar environments. This applies to training, home/away match sites and tournaments. Players should not be left “on their own” in unfamiliar surroundings.

    • Coaches should always keep clear boundaries between adults and players

Parents Education – understanding the basic KIDSAFE role of the parent.

    • Have an open dialogue with your children – let them know you respect & believe them.

    • Don’t use your coach/team as a babysitter; be accountable to ensure your player is taken to and picked up for training and games without relying on the coach.

    • Help your coach be safe. Be there, but don’t interfere.

    • Be aware of surroundings and people around your children.

    • Talk to your child about the responsibility to behave and then look in the mirror and talk to yourself about the responsibility to behave.

    • Don’t compromise your child’s safety.

    • Keep clear boundaries between adults and players.

Player Education – understanding the basic KIDSAFE role of the player.

    • Trust your instincts – if it doesn’t feel right, leave.

    • Use the “buddy system” in unfamiliar environments.

    • It’s okay to tell your parents of uncomfortable situations with adults, regardless of who the adult is – Darkness to Light concept.

    • Hold your parents responsible and accountable to ensure you’re picked up from practice and other events on time!

    • Respect the game & everyone involved in it.

    • It is okay to say “no.”

    • Keep clear boundaries between adults and players.

Watch for more information on KIDSAFE and Risk Management in future Goal Post Scripts. Our Goal is to create a culture of safety from the bottom up.

Colorado Youth Soccer KIDSAFE Risk Management Warning Signs Protecting the Player from the Pedophile

As a member of US Youth Soccer, Colorado Youth Soccer (CYS) and affiliated Clubs have adopted the KIDSAFE Program to exclude from program responsibilities any person with a legally documented history of child molestation. Coaches, administrators and employees agree to a legally sensitive backgroundcheck before or during the program’s operations. Although background checks are effective to identify convicted offenders, they are not “fail safe” in preventing the potential pedophile or the one who hasn’t been caught. To this point, KIDSAFE instills education to create a culture of safety from the bottom up. Suspect Adult Behaviors – Warning Signs

The behaviors below were summarized from Stop If Now, a national non‐profit organization that focuses on the prevention of sexual abuse against children. For more information visit their website at www.stopitnow.org. The adult:

    • Often has a “special” player, maybe a different one from season to season

    • Spends most of his/her spare time with player(s) and shows little interest in spending time with someone their own age

    • Encourages silence and secrets with players

    • Shares personal or private information or activities with the player

    • Has secret interactions with specific players

    • Spends excessive time to emailing, text messaging or calling the player

    • Insists on or manages to spend uninterrupted time alone with the player

    • Seems “too good to be true”, i.e. takes player(s) on “special” outings without other adults

Prevention Tips Ralston House Child Advocacy Center is a non‐profit organization in Jefferson County that assisted over 600 abused children in 2008. Ralston House suggests the following prevention tips. • Note if one‐on‐one activities are open and observable • Stay and observe a practice session or two • Parents, talk to your player; check in to see how the training session went • Players, talk to your parents; is an adult making you uncomfortable or pushing personal boundaries • Pay attention; is your player uncomfortable being around a certain adult • Trust your instincts

Soccer is a great sport driven by passion and dedication of those who administrate, coach, volunteer and play. KIDSAFE compliments that passion and dedication by closing the door on a small minority of society who could utilize the sport for possible risk of sexual abuse to the player.

  • Player/Parent Release of Liability/Medical Release

Upon registration, all parents and guardians must agree to the following authorization and release of liability policy in order for their participant(s) to play within Skyline Soccer Association:

    Release of Liability/Medical Release

    AUTHORIZATION AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY

I, the parent or guardian of the named child, authorize the participation of my child in the Skyline Soccer Association (hereafter called Club) athletic programs (hereafter called Program). These Programs include all activities that may occur at the Skyline Soccer Association Office Turf (hereafter called the Turf) and the Skyline Soccer Association Indoor Facility (hereafter called the Facility).

I understand that this Program is a nonprofit sports program for youth and that my child’s participation is voluntary and not essential to completion of requirements of any program, school or government agency. I understand that the Program is conducted by the Club and its volunteers and staff, including parents of other participating children. I further understand and agree that my child’s participation in athletic and other activities of the Program necessarily involves the risk of injury and even death from various causes, including but not limited to accidents, falls, strenuous and prolonged physical activity, dehydration, illness, collision or dispute with other participants, weather related injuries, playing area and equipment defects, and negligence of coaches and referees. On behalf of my child, me, and my family, I assume these risks.

In consideration of the privilege of my child’s participation in the Program, and on behalf of my child and me as parent/guardian, I hereby release, discharge, hold harmless and indemnify, and covenant not to sue, the Club, and all of the Club’s directors, officers, benefactors, employees, volunteers, insurers, agents and representatives, and all other persons associated with the Program (including without limitation any other participating organizations, sponsors, parents, vendors, coaches, officials, teams and other game and event workers, officials, drivers, and organizations) as to any and all claims of my child, me and other family members for personal injuries suffered by my child, property damage, medical expenses, and economic loss arising directly or indirectly out of my child’s participation in the Program, and any first aid, medical care or treatment provided to my child in the event my child is injured or becomes ill while participating in Program activities, and excepting claims that may not be released under applicable law. This Release of Liability shall be as broadly construed as allowed by law to include all claims and rights that the child, that I as parent/guardian, and that other family members may have. I am a legally responsible parent or guardian of my child. If any provision of this Release of Liability is deemed invalid, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. This Release of Liability shall be binding on me, my family, heirs, next of kin, legal representatives, beneficiaries, successors and assigns.

    MEDICAL CONDITIONS

I understand that participation in the Program may involve strenuous and prolonged physical activity. I agree that my child is healthy and able to participate in the Program activities. I understand that the Club or its representatives may request health information concerning my child and/or ask my child to undergo a medical exam. If the Club determines that my child does have a physical or mental condition that may affect his/her ability to safely and appropriately participate in Program activities, the Club may determine that my child cannot be permitted to participate. I understand and agree that, while the Club desires that all children will be able to participate, such decisions may have to be made out of concern for the best interests of my child and other participants.

    CONSENT TO MEDICAL TREATMENT

In the event my child is injured or becomes ill in Program activities, and if I, the parent or guardian of the above-named child, am not present to make medical decisions, I hereby give consent for emergency medical care prescribed by a duly licensed Doctor of Medicine, Dentistry, Emergency Medical Technician or Certified Athletic Trainer. This care may be given under whatever conditions are necessary to preserve the life, limb and well-being of my dependent. I hereby authorize the Club, its staff, volunteers including volunteer parent participants, coaches, assistant coaches, and officials, supervisors and drivers, to arrange for and consent on my behalf to emergency medical and dental care and treatment, including tests and radiological exams, and surgery, and hospital care, and to consent to medications for pain and other conditions as prescribed by medical personnel attending my child. I am responsible for payment of any medical charges or expenses not covered by my insurance or the insurance applicable to my child (if any).

Clicking the box below indicates that all information provided in this form is true and accurate, and that I fully agree to all statements made on the form, including but not limited to the Authorization and Release of Liability, Medical Conditions, and Consent to Medical Treatment. If only one parent/guardian signs this form, the following is stated: I affirm that this form was signed by only one parent/guardian because (1) I am signing for two or more legal parents/guardians and affirm that the information presented in the Authorization and Release of Liability as well as the information in the Medical Conditions section and the Consent to Medical Treatment section has been shared with the other parents/legal guardians and I am the sole signor for the guardians, (2) I am the sole parent/guardian responsible for the care and custody of the child due to death or incapacity of the other parent/guardian or court order, or (3) I have made a good faith effort to obtain the signature from the other parent/guardian but have not been able to do so due to causes beyond my control, and I am not aware of any reason that the other parent/guardian objects to the child’s participation in the Program.

Refund Policy: It is the policy of Skyline Soccer Association to refund registration fees only if your player moves more than 50 miles from his/her primary residence prior to the start of the season or if the player is unable to participate due to a season ending injury or illness as documented by a physician.

Skyline Soccer Association is unable to place your child on a team, a full refund will be issued.

No refund, credits or fee transfers will be allowed for any other reasons. Conflicts with practice schedules are not grounds for refunds. Refund requests due to injury must be made within 2 weeks of injury or illness and must have a physician’s note included. There will be no reimbursements granted for any programming cancelled due to weather, acts of God, forfeits, or lack of refs.

No refunds will be granted for previous seasons for any reasons.

Right to Refuse: The Club reserves the right to refuse any participants for any reason.

Failure to Place: Registration of your child, at any time of the registration process, does not guarantee a place in the Programs. As we do our best to give as many players the ability to play as possible, there may be instances where your child will be turned away. Such instances include, but are not limited to, the inability to create enough teams due to lack of players, inability to find a coach, late registrations, unsuccessful payments, and missing payment deadlines.

Makeup Session Policy: I understand that sessions may be required to be played on Sundays. I also understand that game and practice schedules may be changed or cancelled throughout the season due to, but not limited to, teams folding, bye weeks, lack of fields, weather problems, and other instances that may be out of our control. I also understand that due to these instances I may not receive a full complement of sessions for a specific registration event

Permission to use Photographs & Video Footage: I give my permission to Skyline Soccer Association to use sports action or team photographs and/or video footage of the players and their parents in various Skyline Soccer marketing or educational materials including, but not limited to, brochures, flyers, DVD’s, guides, social media and the Skyline Soccer Association website. I waive all rights to compensation and any right to inspect or approve the finished product or image, regardless of format. I release Skyline Soccer Association from responsibility for any harm or invasion of privacy that may occur or be produced by taking photographs or videos of me and/or my children.

Permission to Use Emails: By providing your email address, you agree to receive email correspondence from the Club at which time you will have the opportunity to unsubscribe.

    Non-Discrimination Statement:

Skyline Soccer Association does not discriminate against its members, players, coaches, parents, referees on the bases of race, color, national origin, age, disability, sex, gender identity, religion, reprisal, political beliefs, marital status, familial or parental status, sexual orientation, or if all or part of an individual’s income is derived from any public assistance programs.

Parent Code of Conduct: Skyline Soccer is proud and thankful that parents choose us for their player’s training and soccer development. Skyline Club feels that players develop best when there are some boundaries to parental involvement. The Club relies on parental support, including; providing timely and reliable transportation for players to/from practice and games, submitting paperwork and payments in a timely fashion, maintaining a positive and supportive environment for all players, parents, coaches, and referees, and encouraging player autonomy – help the player help him/herself, rather than always rushing to solve his/her problems.

In order to maintain a positive and constructive environment for all concerned, the Club has identified some parental behaviors that are detrimental and will not be tolerated. This list is not exhaustive, but is meant to be a common-sense guideline. Parents who do not follow this code of conduct may be banned from Club activities, including practices and games without additional formal warning. If a parent attends an event after being banned, the player may be removed from the Club immediately. Parent/guardians of Skyline Soccer players agree to: refrain from coaching from the sideline; avoid degrading or berating any player, parent, opponent, coach, referee, or tournament official; avoid using profanity during a game; and refrain from the use of tobacco and alcohol at practices and games.

Sideline Behavior Policy: The Club has a zero-tolerance policy in respect to sideline and coaching behavior. Our motto is WHEN IN DOUBT LET THEM PLAY! Excessive coaching from the sidelines by parents is to be strongly discouraged and only positive reinforcement should be provided to our players by coaches and sideline spectators. It is the Club’s policy that continued violations of this rule will result in the removal of the individuals from the Club. Parents/Guardians are expected to be positive role models while on the sidelines during games and practices. There will be ZERO TOLERANCE regarding any interactions from the parents to the coaches or players. Disciplinary actions will be taken if there are any issues.

Artificial Noisemakers: Artificial noisemakers are permissible, subject to the discretion of the referee or on-site Skyline staff.

A parent /guardian who has a concern or complaint relating to a game situation (playing time, roster assignment, position, substitutions, etc.) is to wait 24 hours before asking to speak with the coach. At that time the parent should call or email the coach, briefly outline the area of concern, and ask for a conference. The Club strongly suggests that the parent and Coach notify and invite the program DOC to attend this conference. A PARENT/GUARDIAN SHALL NOT CONFRONT A COACH, REFEREE, PARENT, PLAYER, OR OTHER GAME OFFICIAL IN A PUBLIC FORUM. Failure to allow the 24-hour cooling-off period may result in immediate dismissal from the Club. ANY PARENT WHO WITNESSES OR BECOMES AWARE OF AN EVENT OR CIRCUMSTANCE THAT REPRESENTS AN IMMEDIATE AND SERIOUS THREAT TO THE SAFETY, HEALTH, OR WELL-BEING OF A PLAYER SHOULD IMMEDIATELY NOTIFY THE COACH AND EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR. This includes but is not limited to concerns about physical safety, serious injury or the threat of serious injury, sexual misconduct, physical abuse, verbal abuse, bullying/taunting, and hazing.

  • COVID - 19 Assumption of Risk/Waiver

ASSUMPTION OF THE RISK AND WAIVER OF LIABILITY RELATING TO CORONAVIRUS/COVID-19

The novel coronavirus, COVID-19, has been declared a worldwide pandemic by the World Health Organization. COVID-19 is extremely dangerous and is believed to be spread from person to person contact. As a result, federal, state and local governments and health agencies recommend established guidelines to reduce the risk of spreading the virus. These include requiring social distancing and, in many locations, prohibiting the congregation of large groups of people. These guidelines are for the safety of the public and should be followed.

Notwithstanding recommendations and guidelines by these entities, it must be understood that that COVID-19 is a continuing threat to the health and lives of the citizens of Colorado. Skyline Soccer Association (the “Club”) has put in place preventative measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19. However, it is understood that the Club cannot guarantee that you or your child(ren) will not come into contact with or become infected with corona virus. Your mere physical presence at the Club activities could increase your risk and your child(ren)’s risk of contracting the disease.

Notwithstanding the risk of infection, I, on behalf of myself and my minor child(ren), wish to voluntarily participate in soccer activities offered by the Club. These include practices and other training, soccer matches, team activities and possibly travel to other facilities not under the control of the Club for soccer matches.

In consideration of being allowed to participate in any way in Club programs, and related events and activities, I, and/or the minor child(ren) state as follows: 1. I understand that although the Club has taken precautions to provide proper organization, supervision, instruction and equipment for the services being offered, it is impossible for the Club to guarantee absolute safety from infection by the corona virus. Also, I understand that I share the responsibility for safety during all activities, and I assume that responsibility. I will make my instructors aware to the best of my ability of any questions or concerns regarding my understanding of safety standards, guidelines, procedures and my ability to participate at any point during any activity. I will also take steps to ensure the health of my child(ren) before the child participates in any soccer activity. 2. I understand that risks during soccer activities include possible exposure to the corona virus. In addition, risks of soccer activities include, but are not limited to loss or damage to personal property, injury, permanent disability, fatality, exposure to inclement weather, slipping, falling, insect or animal bites, being struck by falling objects, hypothermia (cold exposure), hyperthermia (heat exposure), and that severe social or economic losses that may result from any such incident. I also understand that such accidents or illnesses may occur in remote areas without easy access to medical facilities or while traveling to and from the activity sites. Further, there may be other risks not known to me or not reasonably foreseeable at this time. 3. I assume all the foregoing risks and accept personal responsibility for the damages due to such injury, permanent disability or death resulting from participation in any Club activity.

I have reviewed the acknowledgment of risk and waiver of liability and I understand and agree with its contents. If you are the parent or legal guardian of a student, please read this document to the child(ren). I voluntarily agree to assume all of the foregoing risks described in this Waiver and accept sole responsibility for any injury to my child(ren) and myself (including, but not limited to, personal injury, disability or death), illness, damage, monetary loss, claim, liability, or expense of any kind, that I or my child(ren) may experience or incur in connection with my child(ren)’s participation at the Club or Club activities (“Claims”). On my behalf, and on behalf of my child(ren), I hereby release the Club, its agents, coaches, chaperones, representatives and employees from any and all claims, demands, and causes of action, whether resulting from negligence or otherwise, of every nature and in conjunction with a Club activity as set forth on the reverse side of this Waiver. In addition, by agreeing to this waiver, I acknowledge the contagious nature of COVID-19 and voluntarily assume the risk that my child(ren) and/or I may be exposed to or infected by COVID-19 by attending Club activities. I understand and agree that this release includes any Claims based on the actions, omissions, or negligence of the Club its employees, agents, and representatives, whether a COVID-19 infection occurs before, during or after attendance at the Club activities.

  • Coach Development Pathway

Skyline Soccer Association prides itself on developing its players and developing coaches.  Coach Development is crucial because coaching feeds growth. The better the coach, the better the training for players. Training more coaches means more teams are positively impacted.   Coach Development and Player Development are dependent on each other.Skyline is unique because our Directors of Coaching (DOCs) do not coach their own teams.  Instead, they are heavily involved with coaching the coaches and seeing as many players a possible.  Since DOCs do not coach teams, they are allowed to have a more fluid schedule to provide real-time coaching education and work with more players in their training environment.  Each DOC is very visible at practices during the week and during home games on the weekends.Much like with players, Skyline wants to put its coaches in the appropriate environment so they can grow and be successful.  The club provides the following structure and stepping stones to get its coaches into the most appropriate environment possible.Novice Coaching: these programs are for those who have little to no coaching experience.  These coaches need to be Introduction to Grassroots Certified and be working towards attending future Grassroots online courses and in-person courses.

Age specific curriculum is provided along with a DOC on-sight. This program is a perfect to cultivate one’s coaching skills!

Volunteer Competitive Assistant Coach, 11U through 19U (non-paid) – this program is a great opportunity for an aspiring competitive coaches who would work closely with a competitive team and coaching prior to coaching their own competitive team.  In these cases, the club pairs an assistant with a more experienced Team Coach to show them the coaching  nuances to be a successful coach for the club.  This mentorship is a priceless opportunity!

Elite Team Coaching: these teams are commonly run by first time team coaches.  However, it is also not uncommon for a Competitive Team Coach to also have an Elite Team.  Elite Team Coaches need to be Grassroots Certified OR be working towards being Grassroots Certified.

Elite Team Coach, 9U & 10U (seasonal coaching stipend) – players at these age levels are assigned to appropriate 7v7 teams where ability and commitment are measured.  Coaches conduct 2 practices per week and 1 game on weekends. • Team Size Policy

Recreational and Advanced League Team Size Policy

Skyline has adopted a Team Size Policy to allow every player who would like to join Skyline the opportunity to play. Skyline Soccer Association has the right to add players to a team in order to fill a roster to meet the minimum player requirement. For example if you have 8 players on a U7 team, Skyline reserves the right to add two additional players to your roster. If we do not have enough players register to meet all teams’ minimum requirement, your team may sit under the minimum roster size. Once your team has the minimum amount of players it will be the coaches choice to accept more players on your roster.

Each age group’s player minimum is as follows:

    U6 Boys/Girls: 8 player minimum (4v4 no GK)

    Suggested 8-10 players

    U7/U8 Boys & Girls: 10 player minimum (6v6)

    Suggested 10-12 players

    U9/U10 Boys & Girls: 12 player minimum (8v8)

    Suggested 12-14 players

    11U-14U Recreational Boys & Girls: 14 players minimum (9v9) – Max 16 players

    15U-19U Recreational Boys & Girls: 14 Players minimum (9v9) – Max 18 Players

    Suggested 15-18 players

Coaches shall not refuse players if their roster is under the minimum number listed above. After rosters have met the minimum, it is the coach’s decision on whether to accept more players.

Please note: after teams have been finalized for the season and everyone has been contacted by the coach, Skyline Soccer Association will only remove players from a team’s roster if requested by the player and parents of said player.

Skyline develops its referees through a bottom-up approach, providing instruction and experience at the developmental level. Skyline Board members and coaches actively participate in observing and nurturing the referees on the fields. With experience and growth, referees are promoted to the level games where their skills and talents are closely matched to the skills level of each game.

It is the policy of Skyline to assign USSF certified referees for each competitive game.

Skyline also offers training at the club level for parents and coaches to learn the rules of soccer and to enable them to center referee and line games.

Referees must be 13 years old to be eligible for any refereeing duties or any training.

    Team Contribution

Skyline will make every effort to provide qualified referees to each home game. Skyline will provide a Center referees being at U9.  Referees for U6-U8 games will be done by team coaches or parent volunteers.  In order to provide referees at U6-U8 ages, ALL teams are being asked to encourage participation.

Competitive teams are to encourage players, parents, and siblings to participate in the USSF referee program. By refereeing, each competitive member can give back to the Skyline Soccer Program.

All U9-U18 Intermediate and recreational teams must provide two volunteers who will help with linesmen referring at home and away games if requested by the referee.
