Skyline Soccer Association

Faris M. - 12B Blue Team

Faris's team recently traveled to California to participate in pre-season tournament. They also participated

in the MLS Next event this past week.

Commitment: Faris loves soccer - watching, playing and engaging in soccer talk. Rarely he misses a training session or game. The team feeds off his energy and passion.
Performance: Faris started as an outside player, who created opportunities for others with his speed and attention to positioning. His ability to be proactive defending on the outside kept opposing teams from playing the ball to his side. While not the biggest or meanest on the field, he reads the game extremely well and for that, we expanded his role to a central talent.

F
aris is often first to the ball, immediately turning and heading up-field looking for options. Many goals last season were direct results of Faris passing to a teammate and making a run to receive it for a shot on goal. His knack for pressing defense to make a mistake and intercepting the ball led to goals and forward opportunities.
The big accomplishment for Faris was the game winning goal in the Championship game at the Real Cup, where the team played division above their age bracket. Faris won the ball in the midfield, then put on some moves beating a player and looked up to see the goalie was off his line. Faris did not hesitate to shoot and chipped the ball above the goalie to put our team ahead and victory for the game.
Sportsmanship: Faris understands his role is to be a play-maker and he does it well. Faris's game speaks for itself and the knowledge that working for the team means keeping a cool head and playing smart.
Leadership: Faris is a consummate team player and gets along with the team in every setting. He leads by example by playing determined and fully.
Versatility: Faris understands the team goals are above his own and is willing to tackle any challenge put in front of him. When asked to shift to other positions when needed, he accepts the assignment and asks how to make the team better.
"We feel lucky to have a determined and intense squad of capable players and Faris has been an example of what we continue to ask all our players to be for Skyline." - Faris's coaches
